iPhone 16  Support Faster 25W Qi2 Wireless Charging with iOS 26

The iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max will support Qi2 25W wireless charging in the upcoming iOS 26 update.

According to MacRumors, Belkin claims in a press release announcing its latest Qi2 25W charging stand that its new accessory can charge an iPhone 16 running iOS 26 from 0% to 50% in approximately 25 minutes. This is the same charging time Apple advertises for its upgraded 25W MagSafe charger, indicating that iOS 26 will bring faster Qi2.2 charging speeds to the iPhone 16 series.

Currently, the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro only support 25W wireless charging via the new Apple MagSafe charger, which is expected to launch in late 2024. With official Qi 2.2 certification, third-party accessories can also enjoy faster charging speeds. Belkin has already released three new 25W Qi 2 chargers. Other brands, including Anker and Ugreen, are also about to release Qi 2.2 certified power banks and charging stands.

The Wireless Power Consortium (WPC) announced the Qi 2 25W standard last month, boosting wireless charging speeds from the previous Qi 2 standard's maximum of 15W. So far, the recently released Google Pixel 10 Pro XL is the only phone confirmed to support 25W Qi 2 charging; the rest of the Pixel 10 series phones have a charging power limit of 15W.

With the release of iOS 26, all iPhone 16 models, except the entry-level iPhone 16e, are expected to support the new 25W Qi 2 standard. Apple may release iOS 26 in September at the same time as the iPhone 17 series. It is rumored that the iPhone 17 series will be the first to feature faster 50W wireless charging technology.
